Smart port development accelerates its global expansion: Fujian Port Technology Group makes its debut at the 7th Meeting of the China–Malaysia Port Alliance.

On May 21, the seventh joint meeting of the China–Malaysia Port Alliance was held in Nanning, Guangxi. With the core theme of “Empowering through Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization, Deepening Port–Shipping Connectivity, and Building a New Channel for China–Malaysia Cooperation,” the conference brought together 26 member organizations and 21 observer units from both China and Malaysia, totaling 145 government and business guests as well as industry leaders, to discuss new pathways for port–shipping cooperation and jointly map out a new blueprint for regional development.

Leaders from Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport, China’s Ministry of Transport’s Water Transport Bureau, the Port Klang Authority, Guangxi Beibu Gulf International Port Group, the China Ports Association, and other relevant organizations attended the meeting and delivered remarks.

Concurrently with the conference, a special seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation was held, bringing together dozens of port and shipping enterprises and ports from China and Malaysia. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as the construction of all-scenario smart ports, the regional economy of cruise tourism, the research and development of automated equipment, and digital governance in ports, thereby defining practical pathways for the collaborative development of the digital shipping industry.

Fujian Port Technology Group was invited to attend the conference, where its General Manager, Wei Qiuxin, delivered a keynote speech titled “Connecting China and Malaysia, Smartly Linking the Future.” He provided a vivid exposition on how Artificial Intelligence and digitalization can empower the transformation and upgrading of ports, resonating deeply with the attendees.

In his speech, Wei Qiuxin highlighted Fujian Port Technology Group’s cutting-edge explorations and practical applications in the field of Intelligent Port Security. He noted that the group’s core brand, “HIRI FUTURE,” focuses on the diversified application of artificial intelligence in ports, synergistically advancing across four key areas—Intelligent Port Security, automation of port machinery, intelligent Procedure, and scientific optimization of operations—to build a “Panoramic Intelligent Port Ecosystem.” This ecosystem covers scenarios such as ship loading and unloading, Stack yard operations, and surface transportation, seamlessly integrating with 5G and an Intelligent Logistics platform to achieve all‑round智能化. Currently, its services have been deployed at more than eighty major ports both domestically and internationally, including Malaysia’s PTP Quay, Westport, and Northport.

In the security domain, HIRI FUTURE leverages a port‑level intelligent analysis system to achieve all‑time automatic early warning through AI‑powered video recognition. By integrating multimodal biometric identification and high‑precision positioning technologies, it transforms traditional human‑based defense into digital, technology‑driven protection. At the same time, the company is committed to enhancing the intrinsic safety of equipment, enabling operational machinery to possess self‑perception, analytical capabilities, and decision‑making abilities. In terms of automation, the group has developed L4‑level Intelligent Equipment, upgrading conventional manned vehicles into highly automated, remotely controlled systems with an automation rate of 85%–90%, essentially achieving fully automated operations throughout the entire process. Regarding intelligent scheduling, Wei Qiuxin highlighted groundbreaking innovations based on agent‑based and large‑model technologies. The company has reimagined scheduling roles as individual “Agents”; under the coordination of the Agent OS, these Agents are driven by HIRI’s Intelligent Large Model to collaborate precisely, handling tasks such as container localization, route planning, and lifting operations, ultimately delivering a globally optimal solution that reduces costs, boosts efficiency, and streamlines maintenance and operations.

Facing the overseas market, Fujian Port Technology Group has deepened its presence in Malaysia, establishing long-term strategic cooperation with local transportation authorities, West Port, North Port, PTP, and other leading ports. Moving forward, it plans to set up an AI technology center in Malaysia and form an overseas R&D team. Grounded in the practical needs of digital upgrading at Malaysian ports and specific implementation projects, the group will iteratively refine its technological products to precisely meet localized requirements. Additionally, it will collaborate with local universities and enterprises to co‑build laboratories, cultivate internationally oriented professionals, and continuously enhance its international service capacity and level of technological innovation.

The speech not only showcased Fujian Port Technology Group’s cutting-edge explorations and pragmatic achievements in the field of Intelligent ports, but also provided a replicable and scalable “Chinese solution” for deep cooperation between China and Malaysia in the areas of digitalization and Intelligent technologies.

This conference was pragmatic and efficient, yielding abundant results. Representatives from the port and shipping authorities and enterprises of China and Malaysia signed five landmark cooperation documents on-site, comprehensively expanding the scope and deepening the dimensions of their cooperation. Among these, six Chinese and Malaysian port and shipping entities signed a letter of intent to strengthen cooperation on maritime transport connectivity; the parties will focus on in-depth collaboration in areas such as shipping connectivity, port efficiency enhancement, and trade and logistics facilitation, thereby improving the cross-border shipping and logistics system. Additionally, six cruise companies jointly signed a letter of intent for China–Malaysia cruise cooperation, supporting the integrated development of the two countries’ cultural and tourism industries and the cruise economy.

Looking ahead, Fujian Port Technology Group will take this joint conference as a new starting point to accelerate the international rollout of smart port technologies and its brand‑internationalization strategy.

Building on the eleven-year foundation of deep cooperation within the China–Malaysia Port Alliance, Fujian Port Technology Group will continue to uphold its integrated empowerment model of “technology + operations + talent,” focusing on three key areas—technological interoperability, industrial synergy, and green, low-carbon development—to refine cross-border technical standard alignment, extend port‑industry chain cooperation, and share its expertise in green, smart ports.
