Object Detection: How Are the “Eyes” of Port OCR Trained?
Before “reading the text,” there is an even more fundamental question that needs to be addressed: how does the system determine which parts of the image actually contain text?
How can the “character-reading” challenge in port operations be solved using algorithms?
In the process of port automation and digital transformation, what seems like a simple “reading of numbers” actually becomes one of the most troublesome issues for automation systems in real Quay environments.
“HIRI FUTURE” Successfully Approved as Xiamen Municipal Enterprise Technology Center

From December 18 to 19, the 2025 Intelligent and Connected Industry Collaborative Innovation Development Conference was held in Xiamen. With the theme of “Collaborative Innovation Empowering Industrial Upgrading and Digital Integration Driving High-Quality Development,” the conference facilitated exchanges on collaborative innovation in the intelligent and connected industry, breakthroughs in key technologies, and the implementation of application scenarios.
In the port yard, where containers are stacked in rows and vehicles shuttle back and forth, mobile machinery such as container trucks, Reach stackers, loaders, and Forklifts bear the heavy responsibility of ensuring the smooth operation of port logistics. However, due to factors such as complex operating environments, large blind spots in drivers' vision, and delays in human operators' reactions, these intricate human-machine interaction scenarios have become potential high-risk areas for safety accidents.
